2016 might be winding to a close, but it’s not over yet. So before you tune out and head home for the holidays, here are a few of the most interesting things that happened in animation this week:

January—the time for resolutions. Lose weight, wake up earlier, call home once a week—we all have resolutions that we aspire to. However, one of the most common goals people set for themselves at the start of the new year is to learn something new.
And there are a lot of great places to learn online these days.
We’ve talked about Skillshare’s fantastic use of explainer videos before—and for good reason—but with the New Year on the horizon it’s worth restating how powerful animated explainer video really is for online educators.
In their 2002 study, Animation: Can It Facilitate, Barbara Tversky and Julie Bauer Morrisony conclude that “animated graphics includes additional information and the ability to convey more comprehensive content that static graphics alone.” Animated explainer videos are dynamic, repeatable, evergreen, and can be viewed at the pace that learners need.
